Karmen’s Senior Shoot in Lansing’s Old Town

Senior photography season is winding down as winter approaches. Today it snowed a little for the first time this season. I am not looking forward to the colder weather. My friend, Joe, and I met Karmen for her senior shoot and decided on Old Town as the shooting location. I have shot in that area several times in the past and each time I find something new. Old Town has been refurbished over the years and is now home to several art galleries and boutiques. It’s a fun place to shoot as you will see in these set of photographs.

I love shooting in this little courtyard. The water flowing over the dam makes a beautiful backdrop.

Karmen decided to change outfits towards the end of the shoot. The colors worked out perfectly.

I am happy to announce a new way to view products on my main website page. The list is too big for me to go into here but we offer almost any product you can imagine for photographs. Click this link to view the catalog.

I put together a few items to show you some of the possibilities.

This first one is a senior composite. This is a fun way to showcase your images. There are several styles to choose from.

This locker template is is a great way to share photos with your friends at school.

We also do wall clusters. This one is a thin wrap with a 16X24 image on the left, an 11×17 on the top right, and two 8×12’s below.

Here is another variation of the wall clusters. This includes one 20×20 and four 10×31’s.

Senior Photos at the High Roll-away

High roll-away is a hidden gem known mostly by the locals of Traverse City and the surrounding area. I’ve been there a few times when I was younger but couldn’t remember exactly how to get there. Fortunately I found instructions online. The road that leads to the scenic overlook gives you the impression that you are going the wrong way. It’s a dirt trail that winds through grassy fields and forests for quite a while until you finally reach your destination. Once you get there you will see that it’s totally worth the trip. The fall colors are spectacular. You can look out and see for miles over top of all the trees.

The weather outside is frightful but the smile is so delightful. lol. It was freezing a couple days ago when Jenna and I embarked on a mission in Downtown Traverse City to capture some great senior photos. I do my best even when the wind is blowing the icy chill right through my bones and my fingers are so cold that they can barely change the lens.

After the shoot is over and the photos are loaded onto the computer it’s nice to sit back and remember….it was a fun shoot after all.

A Wonderful Shoot at the Village at Grand Traverse Commons

I recently shot a senior portrait session at the Village at Grand Traverse Commons, (formerly the State Hospital). Marla Shooks and her mother braved the cold temperatures to get some wonderful shots. Shooting in snow is challenging but also rewarding. The lighting was beautiful as it reflected softly from the overcast sky onto the fresh snow. This type of lighting makes a photographer’s job much easier.
