Senior photography season is winding down as winter approaches. Today it snowed a little for the first time this season. I am not looking forward to the colder weather. My friend, Joe, and I met Karmen for her senior shoot and decided on Old Town as the shooting location. I have shot in that area...

Senior Photos at the High Roll-away
High roll-away is a hidden gem known mostly by the locals of Traverse City and the surrounding area. I’ve been there a few times when I was younger but couldn’t remember exactly how to get there. Fortunately I found instructions online. The road that leads to the scenic overlook gives you the impression that you...
Senior session in Cooley Gardens.
I had a senior shoot with a very lovely lady this past week. We started in the lobby of the Quality Suites hotel on Lansing’s Westside and then moved to Cooley Gardens and, later, the bridge on Shiawassee. Cooley Gardens seemed like a popular spot for senior pictures in Lansing. There were three or four...

Bevin and I were chatting on Facebook when we decided to host another photography workshop. This time the workshop was located at the barns in the former State Hospital Grounds in Traverse City. We didn’t have too much time to plan. We gave ourselves less than a week. We invited people through Facebook and word...
Jenna’s Senior Photo Shoot in Traverse City.
The weather outside is frightful but the smile is so delightful. lol. It was freezing a couple days ago when Jenna and I embarked on a mission in Downtown Traverse City to capture some great senior photos. I do my best even when the wind is blowing the icy chill right through my bones and...
A Wonderful Shoot at the Village at Grand Traverse Commons
I recently shot a senior portrait session at the Village at Grand Traverse Commons, (formerly the State Hospital). Marla Shooks and her mother braved the cold temperatures to get some wonderful shots. Shooting in snow is challenging but also rewarding. The lighting was beautiful as it reflected softly from the overcast sky onto the fresh snow. This type of lighting makes a photographer’s job much easier.
